2016 Queensland Guineas an Option for Too Good To Refuse

April 11th, 2016

Too Good To Refuse was unlucky to be ruled out of major autumn targets through injury, however trainer Desleigh Forster has been thrilled with the colt’s condition in the lead up to the Brisbane Racing Carnival, which could include an appearance in the 2016 Queensland Guineas (1600m).

Too Good To Refuse has been a strong and consistent performer for Forster through his entire racing career so far; posting three wins and as many minors since first appearing on course competitively in late 2014.

Having been set on a course towards the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) in Sydney before suffering an injury during the running of the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) on February 20th, Forster was pleased with the effort mustered by the Rothesay colt in a Doomben minor over 1350m on April 2nd and believes he is ready to return to winning form.

“He has had one run back in Brisbane and it was great,” Forster told AAP.

“Too Good To Refuse was tailed off last from a wide barrier but made up about 15 lengths to finish right behind the placegetters.”

Too Good To Refuse will line up for Saturday’s Toowoomba Guineas (1625m) and Forster is confident the colt will be tough to beat at the conditions of the race.

“I expect he will be very hard to beat on Saturday,” Forster said.

Ryan Wiggins will be on Too Good To Refuse and I think he will suit him.”

Too Good To Refuse clearly needed a run when debuting for eighth in a Gold Coast minor over 900m but responded when in finishing second in the Gold Training Maiden Plate (1200m) in his second competitive appearance.

Undoubtedly returning to racing in career-best condition to date during the recent Spring Carnival, Too Good To Refuse won each of the Barry Nilsson Lawyers Handicap (1350m) and Brisbane Marriott Hotel Handicap (1640m) before running fifth in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) in October.
